Student Emergency Relief Fund

Student Emergency Relief Fund

The Student Emergency Relief Fund has been established to specifically support California Western students impacted financially by the current COVID-19 public health crisis. This fund will provide resources for basic living and educational expenses so our students can continue their legal studies with as little disruption as possible. Your gift of any amount will truly make a difference.

Challenges facing our students and post-bar graduates:

  • Food and shelter insecurity
  • Lack of alternative credit resources
  • Loss of part-time jobs and supplemental income
  • Loss of on-campus subsidized meals
  • Loss of post-bar positions
  • Loss of current job offers
  • Uncertainty of summer positions

“The signature strength of our law school has always been the care and support we show our students – in and out of the classroom. In this time of unexpected and unprecedented need brought about by the current pandemic, our students need our financial support more than ever. Please join me and my wife, Marie, in donating to the Student Emergency Relief Fund. Together, we can make a difference when our students need us most!”

Jeff Lewin ’75, Chair, California Western Board of Trustees

“The COVID-19 crisis has hit us all hard, but none harder than our law students and post-bar alumni. In response, the Alumni Association Board of Directors has taken action to redirect Association funds to help address these critical needs. It is in times like these that we must all come together to do our part.”

Spencer Scott ’14, California Western Alumni Association Board President

“I rationed out my financial aid to make it last through July and was counting on being able to work or find a paid post-bar job after taking the bar. I have already taken out a private bar study loan for this year, so I’m unable to explore that option for additional funds.”

“My job offer was revoked on March 1, and my loans no longer cover my day-to-day expenses together with food and rent.”
